Washington and Tehran are negotiating a new nuclear contract under the supervision of the special envoy in the United States. After Trump threatens military intervention, both sides emphasize the danger of talks and report initial progress.
Representatives of the United States and Iran spoke after the third round of their talks about a possible nuclear agreement for progress and agreed to follow -up. A high -ranking American government agent described the consultations as “positive and fruitful” with the transfer of Oman. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said there are still “differences.” Araghtschi was in the discussions of his country’s delegation, and the United States delegation was headed by Steve Whizov.
“There is still a lot to do, but further progress on the way has been made to a deal,” said the US government official. So the following talks will take place “soon” in Europe. The Omani Foreign Minister and the mediator Badr Albusidi said that the talks should continue at the end of next week.
The goal of negotiations that have been going on for weeks is a new nuclear agreement that prevents Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and in return, it should provide US sanctions against Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchchi said after the meeting both in basic and detail questions, there are still “differences.” The third round of negotiations were “more dangerous” than the previous rounds.
Tehran: satisfied with the course and speed
According to Arajchishi, the delegations were in separate rooms and were written in writing on the host. Even the next meeting, both sides wanted to see how the differences could be reduced. “I think we have made good progress so far,” the Iranian Foreign Minister continued: “I am satisfied with the path of negotiations and speed.”
In 2015, several states, including the United States, Germany, France and Great Britain, have completed an international nuclear agreement with Iran. This states that Iran limits its atomic activities, and in return, it benefits from eliminating Western sanctions imposed against it.
In 2018, the United States withdrew from US President Donald Trump’s agreement and imposed new sanctions against Iran. Tehran then gradually withdrew from his obligations mentioned in the agreement. Since his return to the White House in January, Trump had a new agreement. It also threatens Iran in the event of the failure of talks with a military approach. The West accuses Iran of the desire to produce nuclear weapons. Tehran rejects this and confirms that the nuclear program alone serves civilian purposes.
