Research shows that while some countries, including the United States, Australia and France, have exceeded pre-pandemic domestic bookings, others, such as Canada, Thailand and New Zealand, have achieved only a small percentage of their pre-pandemic levels.
Globally, business travel is about four months behind leisure travel. Business travel is showing signs of recovery, with bookings for Australian domestic business trips reaching nearly 80 per cent of pre-pandemic levels.
In terms of leisure travel, the study indicated that reservations for domestic flights in the United States were above pre-pandemic levels in May, although international bookings are still 22 percent lower than they were in the fourth quarter of 2019. In Europe The situation is similar in France and Italy: domestic bookings are above pre-pandemic levels, while international bookings are much lower.
However, on air corridors between Australia and New Zealand, as well as the US and Latin America and the Caribbean, for example, bookings are reaching and even exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
