One of Kim Jong-un’s lavish villas is being renovated in the strictest confidence

In North Korea, the renovation of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s villa in Shinju has quietly begun.

Shinju is a North Korean city adjacent to Dandong in China across the Amnok River. The city is connected to Dandong by a railway bridge. Shinju is the capital of North Pyongan Province. The China-Korea Friendship Bridge connects it to Tantung, China.

A source, who requested anonymity for security reasons, told Daily NK that Renovation work on Songhan Villa began at the end of July, and a radius of 10 kilometers from the site has been closed to the public. According to the report, the restoration of the building is expected to take three months, while some speculate whether the start of work means that Kim Jong-un will visit China soon.

The possibility of Kim Jong-un visiting China may have arisen because at the time, one of the former leaders of North Korea, Kim Jong-il, used the same villa before and after his trip to China, he writes: Daily NK.

Since the founding of the state, Kim Il Szen, Songhan Villa has been of utmost importance to the government.

According to the source who informed NK Daily, police patrols have increased control of the villa so that no one can monitor the progress of the renovation.
