Thousands of South Korean and US forces took part in a joint sniping exercise on Thursday, in a show of force after North Korea’s failed attempt to launch a spy satellite in May.
The soldiers used South Korean F-35 fighter jets, K9 self-propelled howitzers, US F-16s and Gray Eagle drones during the exercise.
The purpose of the exercises was to test the ability to conduct joint operations in a scenario involving North Korean provocation. He pointed out in his article to Reuters that the United States currently has nearly 30,000 troops stationed in South Korea.
In connection with the drill, Pyongyang fired two short-range missiles off its east coast, according to the South Korean military.
They added that this came less than an hour after North Korea’s response to the joint military exercises.
In a Reuters article, he drew attention to the fact that at the time of the missile launch, US President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, was in Tokyo, conducting negotiations with his Japanese and South Korean colleagues. According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the two missiles – for the thirteenth time – fell into the sea within their exclusive economic zone, in the vicinity of Higora Island.
The launch of the missile is a violation of Security Council resolutions, and in addition to provocations against the international community as a whole
