John Healey, Labour's shadow defense secretary, asked the Conservative government's Ministry of Defense how many weapons have been sent to Ukraine so far.
Leo Docherty, the British Minister for the Armed Forces, answered the question in great detail: All arms transfers published to date are detailed by type, and in some cases with unit numbers.
One of the most interesting items on the menu is the following:
London sent almost all serviceable self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
Kiev has so far received 50 such devices, according to analytical sources available online, and Britain had a total of 57 combat-ready AS-90 howitzers. In addition, there are still a few dozen AS-90 missiles in stock, which are also supposed to be delivered to Kiev soon.
The AS-90 is a device intended for withdrawal from the beginning, but they originally wanted to keep the artillery weapons in service until the 2030s. London has temporarily ordered Swedish Archer howitzers to address the shortfall in artillery capability, and in the longer term, plans to replace the donated self-propelled howitzers with German RCH 155s.
In addition to self-propelled howitzers, the British also maintain about 40 M270 MLRS rocket launchers and about 120 L118 light howitzers in their artillery arsenal.
