Netflix's One Piece adaptation finally has a release window for Season 2 — and we can't wait to get back in the water.
according to What's on NetflixOne Piece Season 2 is scheduled to hit the streamer sometime in 2025. Production is scheduled to begin in June 2024 and wrap in January 2025. That's a similar production length to Season 1, which was filmed for six months and 22 days.
One Piece arrived on Netflix in August 2023 and became the number one TV series in 84 different countries around the world during its first weekend – surpassing the record previously held by Stranger Things. Based on the beloved manga and anime of the same name, the series follows Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), an ambitious and rubbernecked kid who wants nothing more than to become the Pirate King. Season 1 ended well for Luffy and his newly assembled crew, with the finale even surprising us with the introduction of a fan-favorite villain.
It was recently announced that Season 1 co-showrunner Steven Maeda will return as executive producer, with the Olympians' own Percy Jackson and Joe Trucks taking his place. The second installment of the popular Percy Jackson novels was a surprise hit for Disney Plus (and quickly became one of my favorite shows of 2023), with the streamer quickly renewing the series for a second season. However, it looks like One Piece is in good hands with Tracz. Matt Owens will remain as co-director.
