One Piece star Zoro, played by Makino, has revealed his transformation in Season 2, hinting at a new look for the character in upcoming episodes. Zoro is a former pirate hunter who first became a member of Luffy's crew after Luffy saved him from Morgan's hand at the beginning of Season 1. This primarily refers to his fighting style, where he wields three swords at once. A time he became famous for, and which will undoubtedly continue to make him a major force in Season 1 of One Piece.
Fitness trainer Lloyd Naicker posted a photo of Makino ahead of One Piece Season 2, revealing the star's transformation ahead of the new episodes. In the photo, actor Zoro's biceps are more powerful than they were in Season 1, suggesting a major physical difference for the character in the upcoming episodes, as he exudes more energy than ever.
What can we expect from Zoro in One Piece Season 2?
At the end of One Piece Season 1, Zoro decided to become the best swordsman in the world after a battle against Dracula Mihawk, which he lost to the more experienced pirate. With this in mind, he became closer to the other Straw Hats, befriended Luffy, and developed a budding rivalry with Sanji. So we can expect these elements of his character to continue into Season 2 once the group finally reaches the Grand Line.
While Zoro's fate isn't entirely clear yet, it seems like the series will follow all of the manga's stories, meaning the next big arc will be the Arabasta Saga, which will feature the sprawling criminal organization Baroque Works. Granted, he doesn't have much history with the group, but he does know who he is in the original material, which could be further explored in the animated version. It's not yet clear how the story will be handled and what role he will play in it.
With so many new One Piece characters expected in season 2, it would make sense for Zoro to interact with them, introducing them to the Straw Hat Pirates, which will almost certainly include Chopper, if the first trailer for the series is true. Perhaps Vivi, who is also involved in the story. There are a lot of possibilities for the upcoming season, suggesting that Zoro's role will multiply as the story progresses. Zoro and Sanji's rivalry also heats up in the Alabasta saga, creating some very funny moments.
