The first possible news clip of OnePlus’ next mid-range phone has surfaced on the web. It is the successor to the Nord CE 2 5G, which was released earlier this year. The leak comes from Steve Hemmerstoffer, better known as OnLeaks, in association with 91Mobiles.
It shows the official appearance of the alleged OnePlus Nord CE 3, which is likely to hit stores in the first quarter of 2023. This means that sometime in February we can witness the introduction, similar to its predecessor, OnePlus Nord CE 2 5Gto me.
However, new renders of the upcoming Nord CE 3 show that it will look very different from its predecessor. As you can see, the upcoming device will have flat square edges instead of rounded edges. For the selfie camera, we find a central cut-out hole in the screen, rather than a corner cut-out feature.
At the back, we can see two very prominent camera sensors, accompanied by an LED flash. While the design of the alleged Nord C3 3 isn’t radically new, it’s a big change from previous models in terms of the Nord series.
91Mobiles notes that the alleged offerings are based on a prototype unit, but should be nearly identical to the final product, Hemmerstoffer says.
As for the expected specifications, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 could feature a 6.7-inch IPS LCD display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. It’s a step up and a step down from the CE 2, which came with an OLED panel but only at 90Hz.
The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 695 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, with OnePlus strangely skipping the newer Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. For authentication, Nord CE 3 has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Other specifications of the device look promising for a mid-range device. It includes a 108MP primary camera along with a pair of 2MP lenses in the secondary camera housing. A 16MP selfie lens has been housed in the punch-hole cutout on the front panel.
The phone is expected to come with the Android 13 operating system, like its predecessor, with a 5,000 mAh battery and support for 67W fast charging.
