Our experts predict a Hungarian Olympic qualifying result and a Scandinavian victory

The Women’s World Championships will begin soon, with the Hungarians aiming to reach an Olympic qualifying position. We asked several people involved in handball four questions about the tournament. In the article you can read his answers and the answers of the site staff. Who will be right will be revealed in the end. In the meantime, here are our answers. Important: We welcome your advice under the post on our Facebook page!

We asked the following questions:

1. What do you expect from the Hungarian national team?

2. Is Hungary in second place?

3. Who do you think will be the surprise team at the World Cup?

4. Guess the top three!

Attila Borsos is a commentator for Sport TV

1. A good match in some places, but many mistakes in attack. A lot of goals were scored in easy matches. Potential defense that can work against poorly prepared teams. Pero Blanca is brilliant, Vamos is a fighter, Kluger is a goalscorer but makes a lot of mistakes, and Kelvini and Juhasz are good for one game each.
Lukács is trustworthy, Marton. Struggle, bad game but wins over Montenegro and Croatia (or draw and the usual huge math). A minor defeat against Sweden. Overall, not a very convincing match, but an Olympic qualifier + (fires of joy, self-deception)
2. 7-8. place
3. I don’t expect a big surprise, maybe in Germany.
4. Norway France Denmark/Sweden

András Kis Ágai, presenter and commentator for Sport TV

1. I consider reaching the top eight to be a realistic and achievable goal, but for me it is no less important than our ability to play balanced, innovative and well-planned handball. I think there are a lot of us who really want to see that from the Hungarian team.

4. Norway, Denmark, France

Danish sport

1. As before, always in world competitions, I expect the Hungarian team to play for the best places, i.e. for the medals. Maybe my expectations are unrealistic, but I would like to see that the World Championship does not only last for us until we reach our goal of reaching the top eight! I think the situation of Hungarian handball would improve a lot if we showed every year that the national team ranks in the top four! As far as I know, all conditions have been met for years!

2. We will be between 4-6, any lower than this will be another blow in the disappointing World Series!

3. I hope we are Apart from us, I also think Germany can achieve a good result, but I would also like to include the Swedes in the surprise group 🙂

4. 1. Denmark 2. Norway 3. Germany

Sportplatz

1. Unfortunately, in recent years, the Hungarian women’s handball national team has not had a really great performance, so I don’t expect an outstanding performance now either, just that the national team will bring the obligatory matches and sometimes make things difficult for those seniors. A draw isn’t bad, so a quarter-final appearance might be a realistic goal.

2. Tenth place

3. The Dutch national team

4. 1. Norway 2. Netherlands 3. France

Six walls

Kilgore Trout:

1. Make the tournament more competitive (against the two European teams, it will do what it has to do), but it will not be good to watch

2. There are eight, about 6, but only because there will be more confusion and chaos in the other branch

3. Germans. Their organization brings a match even against a higher-ranked team. If these were the Danes, even the final would not be unreal to me.

4. Nor ger/den fra din/ger

:

1. The usual: something and its opposite. We need to win the only match needed to reach the quarter-finals and we can go to the Olympic qualifiers. You never have to achieve a result, it is always enough to swim to the next global competition. This is completely understandable. Oh no. In answer to the question: I have nothing.

2. 5-16.

3. The Dutch. In the negative direction. I still don’t understand how anyone can always dig this Per Johansson. In the positive direction, there will be no outliers.

4. Nur-fra-den.

I feel it

1. In exhibition games, I just want to progress, and that means being able to fight and persevere. Of course, it would be good to reach the Olympic qualifiers, but even the end of the World Cup is far away, now I will be satisfied with this much, with this much you can achieve a good result.

2. 8-12.

3. The Germans, but if we reach 8 compared to our previous results, I will give us this title as well.

4. Nor, Den, Sweden/Germany (I think the French will get a break for the Olympics)

1. I expect exactly the same thing from the Hungarian national team, which, in my opinion, all fans expect, with me: relentless warrior mentality, fighting skills and their best skills in every match – and at the same time, keeping the Olympic dreams alive. Our defense must be strengthened in every possible way, especially since we will play the main matches against the South Slavic teams. In attack, I hope there will be 2-3 great performances every game. If the team’s sometimes erratic performance calms down, I believe the set goal, which is to reach the quarter-finals, can be achieved.

2. I have already given a partial answer, but numerically I would say that the Hungarian national team ranked 8th. It’s an optimistic prediction, but I think our team is capable of beating Montenegro and Croatia.

3. Based on the results of the preparatory matches, it is clear that Japan. Although the Asian country’s national team relies on home-grown players as well as a couple of veteran players (including Akiyama Natsumi, who plays for Kisvarda), the defeat of Spain and Serbia is certainly an indicator that, in addition, they are preparing for the World Championship. Championship won the gold medal from the Asian Games. They could even reach the quarterfinals, but even if they don’t, they won’t be far from it.

4. 1. Denmark, 2. Norway, 3. France

Handball expert

Carys Cherfalvi

1. Good goalkeeping performance, stable wings, but there are problems in defence. The right wing position will be a headache, whether sacrificing Kluger’s scoring power for defensive stability. Despite this, we beat the Croats in a bad competitive match, but we beat Montenegro by a clear margin. A close defeat in the quarterfinals, 5-8. For a place in the second match, it doesn’t matter, we won.

2.7.

3. This is very personal, for me it would be the Austrians and the Angolas, but what’s the surprise?

4. Denmark, Sweden, Norway or France

Fig Martin

1. Big wave, there will be games where the defense will perform better, and there will be games where the better team will be on top. This is a reason to be confident that the individual level of many of our players is better than last year, but at the same time, there is a big question about how close our players are to the maximum in the two most important matches.

2. 5-8, but if I actually said this on the podcast, I stand alone: 5.

3. Japan can be a bright spot, and the Germans can even reach the four boroughs with a difficult branch.

4. Denmark, Norway, France

Boldisar Saluki

1. I don’t have high expectations for the national team, but if this draw does not qualify us for the Olympic qualifiers – regardless of the match – we will not even be close to the five-a-side matches.

2.8.

3. I think Denmark is a surprising team.

4. Denmark, Norway, France

Simon Szabolcs

1. I hope it will be a smooth match that will take us to the top eight.

2. I said 6th in the podcast, so I’m sticking with it 3.

3. Austria

4. Denmark, Norway, Sweden

David Damist

1. Reaching the quarter-finals.

2. In seventh place.

3. Japan

4. 1. Norway 2. France 3. Denmark

Zoltan Selye

1. Perhaps the most important is: reaching the Olympic qualifiers. I don’t think it’s because of the balanced performance of the Hungarian national team, but because our draw is very favorable, and the girls always achieve a heroic victory. Moreover, perhaps in the match against the Croats and Montenegro, I will not declare the opponent the favorite. Tactically, I expect a wider repertoire, creative attacks and 7:6 casual play. “I think we are good from the front, and the mentality and day-to-day performance will decide there. I’m more worried about the defence. I don’t really see a consistent defence, or with whom the problem can be solved. A lot of people talk about the defense being good in the second test match against the Dutch. Maybe It’s not better and there is a doubtful trend, but we scored more than 30 goals. If we can add a little percentage to the defense and reorganize after the attacks, I think the Hungarian team can cause the surprise with the right tactics. A good result will be enough for specialization.

2. I think in eighth place

3. The Netherlands, in a negative direction, and the Germans, perhaps in a positive direction

4. 1. Denmark 2. Norway 3. France
