Puerto Rico, Canada and Chile play all-or-nothing to qualify for Paris 2024 with a 3×3 basket
From May 16 to 19, the city of Debrecen will host the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, a competition in which the top 3 men's and women's teams will qualify for Paris and which will be broadcast live to the whole world on the Pan Am Sports channel.

The last chance to grab the long-awaited ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be before the 3×3 national basketball teams of Puerto Rico, Canada and Chile.
This is because the FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament begins this Thursday in Debrecen, Hungary, with the participation of 16 countries in men and 16 in women.
In the men's classification, Lithuania, Netherlands, France, Mongolia, Belgium, Latvia, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Puerto Rico, Canada, Japan, Poland, Egypt, Hungary, Madagascar will participate.
As for women, the following countries will be part of the competition: Germany, Canada, Spain, Hungary, Netherlands, Japan, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Poland, Czech Republic, Egypt, Italy, Israel, Mongolia, Chile, Tunisia.
The top three teams will qualify for the Olympic event which already includes Serbia (World Champion), USA (World Champion Sprinter), China, Latvia (Latvia – current Olympic Champions) and the Netherlands in the men; And to the United States (world champions – current Olympic champions), France (world runner-up), China, Azerbaijan and Australia.
Puerto Rico has Leandro Allende, Luis Cuascot, Andres Ocasio and Antonio Ratt on the payroll. It is important to note that Luis Quascott, Leandro Allende and Andres Ocasio were the first champions of the 2021 Cali-Valley Pan American Junior Games, and today they are leading their team to the expected Olympic qualification.
The Chilean team will only feature women. The Chilean will appear with the squad that was in the 2022 World Cup in Belgium. Ziomara Morrison is the team leader with all her experience in both 5×5 and 3×3. Three of the four players who will watch the action in Debrecen have won bronze medals at the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023. The Chilean team consists of Catalina Apueres, Jovanka Ljubetic, Xiomara Morrison and Fernanda Uvale.
Canada, for its part, will seek classification in both women and men. Canada finished second at the 2022 World Championships with twin sisters Michelle and Catherine Plouffe.
Canadians are looking for their first Olympic participation on both men's and women's levels, and this tournament comes as their golden choice to reach Paris.
