A passenger plane carrying 62 people crashed in Brazil near the city of Vinhedo. Footage broadcast by TV GloboNews shows a large area on fire, with thick smoke rising from the plane's fuselage.
According to the footage, the plane crashed in a residential area. According to the Brazilian Civil Defense, the plane crashed into several houses, CNN Brasil reported. Authorities closed off the residential area where the plane crashed, and later announced that only one house was affected, and no residents were injured.
The fire department confirmed that the plane crashed. There were 62 people (58 passengers and four main crew members) on board the Voepass flight, including the crew. Authorities confirmed that none of the passengers on the plane survived the crash. According to Flight Radar The aircraft was an ATR 72-500 manufactured in 2010. The flight departed from Cascavel in southern Brazil to Sao Paulo. It gave the final signal about an hour and a half after takeoff.
