Payday Community Manager Almir Listo streamed himself playing Payday 2 and took the time to answer a few questions about the upcoming third game, which arrives September 21st.
If there’s one thing 2023 has shown us, it’s that more and more games will require a stable internet connection, but those ads have never caught up with developers and publishers. At the start of the broadcast, they asked if Payday 3 would be an offline game, and he suggested no Cross-play and cross-progression systems Thanks Listo said:
You will be able to play on your own but I think you will need a connection to play because it is made in Unreal Engine and it uses cross progression, cross play and I think you need to be online to play.
Some people didn’t take the news well, with the Payday subreddit littered with disgruntled posts. They discuss what happens if a game becomes unavailable one day, if servers go offline, if game progress is lost, connectivity is lost, and what kind of gaming experience can be expected outside the city. Some responded by canceling their pre-orders or saying they would wait six months to purchase.
