Polestar 2 Model 2024 | Leadership

Days after the Volvo XC40 entered the new model year with improved technical content, its brother, the Polestar 2, received the same updates.

The new, elegant nose design of the five-door sedan includes a sensor array integrated into the radiator grille, which supports the driver’s action with a camera and radar. At the same time, the model’s driver support function has been expanded, driver alertness monitoring, active steering-linked blind spot monitoring system, self-braking assisted cross traffic monitoring, rear collision avoidance system and panoramic camera become standard equipment. A wireless phone charger and an electrochromic (light-dimming) outside rearview mirror are also standard accessories.

It also gets stronger batteries and new motors, and the single-engine version will now have rear-wheel drive instead of front-wheel drive. This new engine produces 220 kW (300 hp) instead of the previous 170 kW (231 hp), and 490 Nm instead of 330. The new rear-wheel drive model accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds.

System output for the two-engined, all-wheel drive Polestar 2 is 310 kW (422 hp), and combined peak torque is 740 Nm (previously 300 kW / 408 hp, 660 Nm), enabling sports car-like acceleration from a standstill To 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. For an hour.

However, this is not the end: if you order the Performance package, which incidentally also includes newly designed and forged 20-inch wheels, you will get a combined peak power of 350 kW (476 hp) and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.2 seconds. The beauty of this is that it can then be purchased, and to activate it you just need to download the appropriate software update.

More powerful motors come with upgraded lithium-ion battery packs. These are available in capacities of 69 or 82 kWh – interestingly the former is supplied by LG Chem, and the latter by CATL.

Both the mechanical systems and the composition of the new batteries were changed. Thanks to this, it can now be charged with 135 or 205 kW.

With the larger battery pack, the standard distance that can be covered on a single charge has increased from the previous 487 km to 592 km – also due to the fact that the all-wheel drive version uses only the rear electric motor for movement under partial load and with suitable traction conditions.

The base model (single electric motor, small battery) promises a WLTP range of 518 km instead of the previous 478 km, while the standard range of the single-motor and large battery version has increased from 551 km to 635 km.

In addition to the direct benefits for users, the renewable Polestar 2 has also improved from an environmental point of view: the variant equipped with a large battery produces 15.7 percent less (5.9 tons instead of 7.0) CO2 thanks to the modified cell structure2– emissions.

The renewed Polestar 2 can now be ordered (as it can already be ordered; it still does not exist in Hungary), customers can receive the first cars in the third quarter of the year.
