Police Investigating Death of Hampton University Student Found in Library
Police are investigating a death at the Hampton University library that happened Friday morning.
They received the call shortly after 11:30 a.m., said city police spokesman Sgt. Jason Price. When officers arrived, they found 1 person dead there. The person was not shot, but Price could not immediately release any other details.The identify of the victim is still under investigation.
Police say they do not suspect foul play at this time and there have been unconfirmed suicide reports from students via social media.
Hampton University Statement
At 11:30 a.m. the Hampton City Police responded to a call for service at the Hampton University library. The Hampton City Police is investigating the death of an individual. Victim ID is unknown. According to the City of Hampton Police Chief Terry Sult, “we do not suspect foul play at this point. However, it is early in the investigation and any information is subject to change.” Chief Sult, indicated that the city is in partnership with the Hampton University Chief of Police, David Glover to assist with the joint investigation
