Poll: More and more Ukrainians will make territorial concessions for peace

Ukrainian news agency Kyodo reported that more and more Ukrainians are willing to make territorial concessions to Russia in exchange for an end to the fighting and the start of peace talks. Bloomberg Referring to the results of a telephone survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

According to this, about 19 percent of participants said that Ukraine should make territorial concessions to Russia. The number of supporters of such a step reached 14% in October and 10% in May. On the other hand, the number opposing concessions is declining – from 84% in May to 80% in October and 74% in December.

The institute also notes that the largest increase in readiness for settlement was recorded among residents of the western and central regions of the country.

The survey was conducted between November 29 and December 9. More than 1,000 people participated in the survey.

Earlier, NBC quoted American officials as saying that the United States and Europe are negotiating with Ukraine about a possible peace treaty with Russia and what Kiev must give up in order to reach a compromise. According to the channel, American and European officials “began speaking in a calm tone” with Kiev about the possible consequences of peace talks with Moscow on ending the conflict. The channel announced that some of these talks had already taken place in October.
