kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a courtesy visit from a delegation headed by the US-ASEAN Business Council led by Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director Brian D. McFeeters Today.
During the meeting, Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the two sides exchanged views on issues related to policies and regulations of several sectors as well as the possibility of increased investments by companies from the United States.
“I also touched on the role Malaysia will play as ASEAN chair next year,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Anwar said that the delegation also includes representatives of 20 American multinational companies.
He said US Ambassador to Malaysia Edgard Kagan and US Ambassador to ASEAN Yohannes Abraham were also present.
“I hope that good relations and close cooperation with multinational companies such as those in the United States will contribute to the government’s efforts to achieve the goals of a civilian economy,” Anwar said.
The US-ASEAN Business Council is a trade organization that serves as the leading advocacy group for US companies operating in the ASEAN region.
Its primary role is to promote economic cooperation, trade and investment between the United States and ASEAN member states, including Malaysia, and facilitate dialogue between governments and businesses to strengthen economic relations and encourage mutual understanding.
