Josh Homme, frontman of the British rock band Queens of the Stone Age, spoke about his cancer to the press for the first time – writes the Guardian Homme based on his interview with Revolver.
The 50-year-old musician did not say what type of cancer he was being treated for, but said that he had also undergone surgery, and that all this happened during the period when he was fighting for custody of his children. Cancer was just the “cherry on top of this interesting time,” she said, adding that she was “so grateful” to get over it and look at it as “something rotten that made me better.”
Homme has been in a legal battle with his ex-wife Brody Dalle for a long time. Both parties filed restraining orders against the other and accused the other of physical abuse: according to Daly, Home cut off her head and told her he had fantasized about killing her; On the other hand, Homme testifies that Dalle, among other things, punched him in the face several times. They have two children together, and the fight for custody of them continues.
“It was the darkest four years of my life,” Home added, an experience that “smashed my old life to pieces, [de] I was able to build these pieces into a ship that will soon sail.” Queens of the Stone Age will release a new album, In Times New Roman… on Friday.
