After Montreal and Spielberg, rain may also play a role at Silverstone during the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend.
The Formula 1 field races without interruption – the championship program continues this weekend with the British Grand Prix. Although we are heading towards the middle of summer, the weather on the English track promises to be changeable in the coming days.
You can’t expect heat over the weekend, as the air can be around 25°C during the first free practice session on Friday, and it can get a little warmer for the second practice session in the late afternoon.
There is a chance of rain on Saturday, and during the third free practice, clouds may also bring rain. The temperature after that can be around 22-25 degrees Celsius, but there is a chance that the track will remain wet until the qualifying session. If that’s the case, after Canada and Austria, a change of circumstances could set the course for qualifying for a third time.
On Sunday, meanwhile, there is a chance of rain only in the morning hours, and dry weather is expected for the race.
However, over the weekend, not only the risk of rain can make a difficult condition for the field, but also wind, which is a frequent factor at Silverstone. Winds of up to 40km/h can be expected on Friday, and up to 50km/h on Saturday, which won’t make things any easier for drivers of wind-sensitive cars in fast corners.
