Realme has been teasing its super-fast charging technology for a few days now, which it has now detailed. The method is called 320W SuperVOOC Charge and is currently the fastest way to charge smartphones in the world.
The Oppo brand claims that its method can charge a smartphone’s battery in just 4 minutes and 30 seconds. In just one minute, you can charge 20 percent of the device’s battery, and in less than two minutes you can reach 50 percent. This is no sponge cake.
Realme's technology is slightly faster than Redmi's 300W solution, which can fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in 4 minutes and 55 seconds. Unfortunately, the brand's spokesperson didn't reveal how much battery this 320W method has tested, so it's not possible to say which of the two companies' developments is actually faster.
But it is no secret that the power adapter that produces 320 watts of charging is the “Pocket Cannon” (pocket cannon(Aptly named), its energy density is 3.3 Wh/cm3, while its volume is almost the same as the previous 240W charger. The adapter supports all popular charging protocols, i.e. pocket cannon It is also compatible with UFCS (up to 320W), Power Delivery, and SuperVOOC. The charger is equipped with two USB-C ports for simultaneous charging: one provides 150W for Realme smartphones and the other 65W for compatible laptops.
The brand also unveiled a voltage converter called “AirGap”. It features a non-contact electromagnetic design that ensures high voltage is isolated from the battery in the event of faults such as a circuit failure, ensuring safe and risk-free charging. Realme claims that this converter is smaller than the size of a fingertip and reduces the voltage to 20V to protect the battery. The component offers 98 percent power efficiency for the 320W SuperSonic Charging.
In addition to fast charging, a 4,420mAh bendable battery is also introduced. The battery is made up of four cells, all of which are thinner than 3mm, but offer 10 percent more capacity than traditional batteries. From all this, we have reason to assume that Realme is working on a bendable smartphone behind the scenes, but since we haven’t heard about it yet, we’ll ignore this speculation for now.
In Realme’s presentation, they not only talked about batteries and charging, but also revealed other innovations. One is, for example, the so-called Solid State Button It's been used to control smartphone cameras, with intuitive touch controls for instant zoom and quick taps, giving the feel of having a more traditional camera built into your phone.
The non-reflective display is also worth a visit, and the R&D department is said to have used moth eyes as the basis for the display’s design. The panel is capable of reducing reflections by up to 80 percent, creating a paper-like texture that allows for comfortable browsing even in bright sunlight. This engineering feat is said to provide good visibility even at lower brightness while reducing power consumption.
In addition to all this, AI Motion Picture and AI Gaming Supersolution technology are mentioned. AI Motion Picture is made possible thanks to NEXT AI, a technology capable of generating a dynamic video at 25 frames per second from a single image, while AI Gaming Supersolution uses on-device AI to achieve a smoother and more continuous visual experience. Realme Holo Audio also tries to make the gaming experience more immersive by allowing you to adjust the position of sounds, while notifications related to incoming calls do not accidentally disturb our concentration in virtual battles.
