Retrofuturism returns to Gamescom after a year [VIDEO]

It's hard to imagine, but the last time we heard about 333Studios' cinematic horror-adventure game was at Gamescom 2023!

This award-winning title invites players to take on the role of Hana Loshe, the fearless leader of a research team stranded on the distant planet Ryhalian. In a mysterious future base, they navigate a ruined world to survive, facing relentless challenges and powerful opponents at every turn. Retrieval delivers a compelling story filled with unexpected twists and turns, revolving around themes of friendship, love, loyalty, and horror. The game’s rich character development and engaging storytelling will captivate players as they uncover Ryhalian’s horrific secrets.

Powered by Nvidia, Retrieval promises an immersive gaming experience with its aerial visuals and haunting 3D sound design. Hana Loshe embarks on a dangerous journey and experiences the intense drama and thrilling gameplay of this survival horror adventure that blurs the lines between cinema and gaming. Nvidia’s partnership on consoles will be a bit of an oddity, as both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series are built on AMD’s foundations.

The title of the game is a bit unfortunate because the average person could easily mistake it for Returnal, Housemarque's roguelike adventure for PlayStation 5 and PC (the first and last letters of the two games are the same), but whatever. Nvidia's technology is featured in the video in conjunction with RTXDI (real-time recordings) technology, and the sound is fully 3D with the help of Dolby Atmos technology. Based on the images, the restoration process turns out to be very elegant, and if the atmosphere is combined with advanced gameplay, there is no reason to be disappointed.

We’ll probably have to wait at least a year, if not more, for 333Studios’ release, as we still have no idea when Retrieval will be released. In addition to PC, the target platforms are set to be PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The game might also need a publisher. Maybe that should be locked in too, right?
