Two years later, Rita Nimes competed again in the heptathlon and won the bronze category competition held in Montpellier with a score of 6105 points, bringing her one step closer to the IAAF World Championships in Budapest.
The 33-year-old multi-trial participant told MTI on Wednesday that he found out he could start a few days before the competition.
“These two days were very exciting, we were very happy and even when I finished the 800 I couldn’t believe I won” – recalled the competition of the MTK athlete, who, together with his coach, Dezsó Szabó, confirmed the first place only when the French correspondent came to congratulate them.
“We wanted to achieve more than 6,200 points” – said Nems, noting that he scored 6195 points in his last heptathlon competition two years ago, and since then he has been unable to complete the two-day event due to injuries. His time of 13.72 seconds in the 100m hurdles gave him a big boost on the first day of the weekend, but he did worse than expected in the high jump (1.74m) and shot put (13.26m), so he left many spots in those numbers, and then in the 200 metres, she performed well again. On the second day, in the long jump, it was decided that he would not achieve the best on a personal level, but he still had the motivation to continue competing. He also failed to achieve his personal best in the javelin, so it came down to the final event.
“The best part is the 800 metres, which I used to be very afraid of, but fortunately now those two days have been capped. I also ran a personal best, which gave me 6105 points” confirmed. He added that his injuries were the hardest for him to mentally process, and over the weekend he was also thinking about finishing the race healthy.
Nimes, who finished sixth at the 2021 European Indoor Championships, will start next Thursday at the MTK track in the first leg of the Hungarian Grand Prix series, where he will compete in the high jump, and then on Sunday he will compete in the hurdles. And they shot Nyiregyhaza’s attitude to the series. In two weeks, he wants to perform well at the National Individual Composite Championships in Szolnok.
“The start of the World Cup is going to be very, very good. Twenty-four can go out and it will be very difficult to do it, but you have to compete and get a good result in the Ob. In fact, I have to win it, and then there is a more realistic chance of being a starter” – He said and then confirmed it to him “Competing in front of family and friends in a local world championship is the equivalent of the Olympic Games.”
