Romania is experiencing real displacement

Marcel Ciolaco on Thursday At the RePatriot Summit, a business conference targeting Romanians living abroad Talk about that one

Romanian businessmen and company managers living abroad meet potential Romanian partners.

The Prime Minister stressed: More than 3 million Romanians emigrated between 2008-2022 alone. He noted: Although there is no accurate data on Romanians living abroad, and analysts also work with different estimates, however

If we add the 1.2 million people who immigrated from Moldova, their number is now close to 6.5 million.

He estimated it as follows: This is a huge loss, even if Romanians living abroad send an amount equivalent to 2% of GDP, that is, 6.5 billion euros, to Romania to support the family members they left behind.

“We are losing not only the added value, but also the future of Romania. Because these young people who are working abroad today and developing have found their families abroad,” the Prime Minister pointed out The average age of the Romanian diaspora living in Great Britain, Italy and Spain is between 31 and 33 years.

Ciulacu congratulated the Romanian Business Leaders Foundation, which is organizing the conference for the ninth time, for its efforts to attract Romanians who have achieved success abroad and restore their broken ties with their homeland. He assessed it as: “one of the safest countries in Europe, safer today than Great Britain, Italy or Spain”, with large Romanian communities living, which is a great opportunity for Romania.

According to the Prime Minister, it is not enough to support the return of Romanians living in emigration with money, the political stability created by the grand coalition government in the last few years is also important.
