US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken condemned last night’s “irresponsible” missile test. As he said, the destruction of a Russian satellite caused space debris that “endangers the lives of astronauts, the safety of the International Space Station and the interests of nations.”
The US Space Command said that more than 1,500 trackable debris orbiting the Earth resulted from Monday’s rocket test. These are supposed to disintegrate into hundreds of thousands of tiny pieces and orbit the Earth for years, if not decades.
This poses a significant danger to the crew of the International Space Station and other manned space activities, as well as to satellites of many countries.
he added.
According to US General James Dickinson, Russia has shown that it consciously vomits on the security and defense of outer space. As he said, Russia is developing and deploying capabilities and tools designed to prevent access to outer space by the United States and its allies.
Due to a possible collision with space debris, the seven-man crew of the International Space Station had to go twice on Monday aboard a spacecraft docked at the space station to quickly return to Earth in case of emergency.
