The Storm Shadow subsonic missile is a popular tool due to its stealth capabilities, precise satellite guidance, and precision strike capabilities, which is why it is also used with NATO preference.
The missile is special because it does not require a fifth generation stealth, as it can be deployed with the fourth generation Eurofighter or Szu-24M fighters, however it is suitable for depth effect measurement in its navigation system – GPS / INS, terrain survey, high resolution infrared imaging Automatic Target Identification – Thanks to missiles with a range of more than 155 miles (250 kilometres), while flying at low altitude to avoid detection by anti-aircraft systems.
Military Watch Magazine has also drawn attention to the fact that Storm Shadow’s “brother”, the SCALP cruise missile being developed for the French Air Force – which has also surfaced in Ukraine – could meet a similar fate, as it is also expected to endanger detection by the Russians, who “also adapt to the challenges posed by radar-evading missiles.”
The military portal also reported that Russia has made great efforts to improve its air defense in the field of improving capabilities against threats posed by small, low-speed drones. In this, its defensive system proved incomplete, which enabled Ukraine to strike at Russian territory.
