Samsung is still working on making sure that the introduction of the Galaxy S25 family goes smoothly, but in the meantime they have already started planning for the Galaxy S26 family. According to some rumours, the company is also considering whether a Galaxy S26 is needed at all.
It's not the Galaxy S26 series, but the Galaxy S26 smartphone itself that may not be made. Earlier, we had definitely said that this might be a rumor out of nothing, but now that is no longer the case. Because the Galaxy Tab S10 product line was released just a few days ago, the Galaxy Tab S10 was left out. Samsung has only launched the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra models.
The same could happen with the Galaxy S26 family, as we saw with the Galaxy Tab S10. However, there is still plenty of time left until then, and the Galaxy S26 will only be introduced at the beginning of 2026, if Samsung sticks to the current timeline. The panel would certainly be interesting if the Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra were only available to customers, as they would lose the opportunity to purchase the smaller device.
In recent years, larger smartphones have followed one another, and iPhones have also started to grow this year. Accordingly, it would be logical that the development of the Galaxy S26 would become unjustified. However, it is not that simple at all. It is worth looking at the sales figures, which do not prove at all that it would not be necessary to manufacture the Galaxy S26.
It should be seen that if something should be removed from the range, it is not the Galaxy S26, but the Galaxy S26+.
It is clear from the sales data that the Plus version is the least selling among the Galaxy S models. Based on previous data of the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S24 is more popular than the SGS23, and the demand for this model increased by 8 percent and accounts for 27 percent of sales. In contrast, the Galaxy S24+ was only able to achieve a 21% share, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra took the lead with 52%.
There are other arguments in favor of the Galaxy S26+, which could become redundant and retired if Samsung wants to narrow the range. Apple is currently working on a redesign of the Galaxy S25+ competitor coming next year, which will essentially end the current “iPhone Plus” dynasty. The fourth model in the iPhone 17 scam is said to be an ultra-thin mid-range body, and there are still many open questions about it. But it's increasingly certain that the Galaxy S26+ will be without a major competitor by 2026.
It is also interesting, and speaking in favor of the survival of the Galaxy S26, that Google has just decided that it is worth introducing a more compact device, which will compete directly with the iPhone 15 Pro. The Pixel 9 Pro comes primarily in the Galaxy S24 size class, and the top model has already earned the Pixel 9 Pro XL name on Google's nameplate after the family has grown. Thus, Google already offers two smaller devices.
We are eagerly waiting to see what Samsung will decide and how the Galaxy S26 series will change in 2026. Until then, it is still quite certain that the company's current ideas could evolve as well, as they could already start setting the current pace of planning for the future.
