Managers of Samsung Group subsidiaries must work six days a week instead of five, according to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”. Interested in trade. The company shifts into crisis management mode due to global economic uncertainty.
This is because the performance of its main business units was worse than expected in 2023. The company is suffering from high oil prices and rising costs. The new work schedule will take effect immediately in most of Samsung's technology divisions, and the shift may also take place in financial services divisions in the near future. Some directors of other departments have been working voluntarily six days a week since the beginning of the year.
Samsung Electronics managers can decide whether they want to work on Saturday or Sunday. Employees below management level will continue to work five days a week.
The increase in working hours may be surprising in light of the fact that other companies have just experimented with introducing a four-day work week. Among major multinational companies, Telekom was the first to trial a four-day work week in Hungary.
True, this in the end did not have a positive result. According to the company, in the long run, the four-day model cannot be applied uniformly to all employees. The majority of employees were unable to work efficiently in this model due to the nature of their work or their living situation.
