Based on a leaked display image, Samsung has unveiled new display technologies, likely at a private event. On the one hand, they have improved the selfie camera integrated under the panel, and on the other hand, they are preparing a solution that allows the bezel around the screen to disappear completely.
Samsung’s new solution is called “Full Screen Around”, which means we get a “full screen” experience on every page, i.e. there are no borders around the screen. We’ve seen similar concepts before, but such a phone might be realized soon.
By the way, the soon-to-be-launched iPhone 15 models will have thinner bezels around the screen, and according to some news, Apple will buy these new types of panels from Samsung. It is possible that the solution just presented, or something similar to it, will be included in the new Apple phones, but since the image shows a panel that is curved on all four sides, and the screen of iPhones is flat, this is still highly questionable.
The leaked image also shows that Samsung already has an improved UPC – Under Display Camera. The new solution promises an increase in light transmission by at least 50% and an improved pixel layout, but unfortunately nothing is known about it at the moment.
