Samsung He reported proudly Samsung has announced that its latest bendable display, similar to the one used in the Galaxy Z Fold 5, meets the US Department of Defense's MIL-STD-810 certification. The certification proves that the component can operate without damage in extreme weather conditions and is resistant to external shocks.
Each product, in this case the part, that goes through the testing process must withstand extreme conditions, for example, it must work for at least 4 hours after being covered with a 6 mm thick layer of ice, but also withstand splashing water at a temperature of -10 degrees percentage.
The panel worked flawlessly even when the ambient temperature ranged between -32 and +63°C every two hours. The tested product must pass each test at least three times in order to obtain the relevant military qualification.
Among the tests, there were also 26 falls from a height of 1.22 meters, because according to the authors of the tests, we usually hold smartphones and other devices at this height during use. Samsung's 7.6-inch bendable OLED panel was able to withstand 10.5 GB of pressure during drive-in shooting.
A Samsung Display spokesperson also told the South Korean press that bendable displays can withstand pressure very well. According to him, believing otherwise is a common misconception. According to expectations, the new-designed flexible OLED screen will lead to wider application of flexible panels in the future. This all sounds great, we just need to make it somehow so we can't simply scratch such a bendable screen with our fingernails…
