There were two special performances in Chongrad recently, where science and faith were linked.
The first was held by Dr. János Pák, a physician at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a private university professor, and a devout Reformed Christian. As an expert in the field of biotechnology, many wheat breeding projects are associated with his name, and his lecture “Who Should I Believe?” He gave the title “Thoughts on Creation.”
In his rich slides, he uses quotes from the Bible to support the fact that they shape our thinking, and how we relate to creationism and to the Creator Himself. Through a few examples, he shows that countless remarkable individuals in the living world clearly show signs of planning rather than evolutionary “chance.” Most of all he shocked the audience with his “Orchid Pitcher Job.” Following the presentation, a lively question forum was opened, representing the diverse thinking of those in attendance.
The second lecture was given by Dr. Zoltan Szoboszlai, who works as a medical physicist.
“God's Harmony in the Universe” was his chosen topic, bringing to it dazzling astronomical images and easy-to-understand physical diagrams. “Why is the material world arranged?” – He asked the question and answered by displaying the harmonies found in the atom and the universe, impressively illustrating some of the works of the great designer, or their process. The end was that God created for us a home, and a system of protection, which He offers for our eternal life, and for our souls, through Jesus Christ to all people who turn to Him with an open heart.
The programs were implemented during the “Creation Week” initiated by the Ecumenical Council of Hungarian Churches. It was good to see how the local Catholic, Reformed and Baptist faithful could cooperate, and that the Christian Community House at the height of Parka, which provided the space, was fulfilling its purpose.
Participants received as a gift a refrigerator magnet card on which a Bible quote associated with the occasion could be read:
“For what cannot be seen: His eternal power and divinity, can be seen through intelligent examination of His creation from the creation of the world…” ~ Romans 1:20 ~
