Noppon Saengkham was a staunch opponent of Ronnie O’Sullivan in the first half of the duel. Thailand also advanced 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, but after 3-3, the six-time world champion, who first won his second most important scoring tournament after the World Cup in 1993 (!), closed in on the draw of three Vermes. He finished the last ninth game with a score of 120.
