According to an announcement by the Romanian Ministry of Defense (MAPN), radars detected a target approaching the mainland at a distance of 150 kilometers from the Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Two F-18s and two F-16s of the Romanian Air Force took off from the Kogalneanu and Borcea air bases.
Through RO-Alert messages sent to mobile phones, the civilian population was also warned to move to shelters or, failing this, to remain in building shelters away from windows, as there was a risk of dangerous objects falling into Romanian territory.
