Russian President Vladimir Putin has received an invitation to attend the inauguration of new Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on October 1.

Russia's invitation to President Sheinbaum's inauguration has been sent to President Putin. The Russian president will decide whether to attend the ceremony himself or appoint another high-ranking official to do so on his behalf.
The diplomatic mission said.
The Russian Embassy in Mexico also confirmed that the Russian side is invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Mexican President.
As previously reported, in Mexico, the government party candidate, Claudia Sheinbaum, won the presidential election, making her the country's first female head of state. Sheinbaum, 61, who has a degree in physics and Lithuanian and Bulgarian roots, has been mayor of Mexico City since 2018. He is considered close to outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
