The Spanish city of Valencia has an innovative plan to produce clean energy. They want to turn cemeteries into green energy centers, which is why they want to put solar panels in these places. The project is called Requiem in Power, or RIP for short.
Most countries are trying to use renewable energy, and one of the most widespread of these sources is solar panels, of which more and more are being installed around the world. The Requiem in Power (RIP) project was launched in May and aims to become the largest urban solar farm in Spain. According to the plans, 6,658 solar panels will be placed in the city's cemeteries, 810 of which have already been deposited.
When the project is finished, then… The solar panels will produce more than 440,000 kilowatts of energyThe city will be able to save 140 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Most of the energy generated by these facilities is used to power municipal buildings, but 25% of the production is also allocated to poor families. The project is part of Valencia's Climate Mission 2030, within which the city intends to meet 27 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources and use it for public infrastructure.
