José Miguel Arenas Beltran was sentenced in May 2018 to 3½ years in prison for inciting terrorism and insulting the royal family. Valtònyc fled to Belgium to carry out the sentence, so Spain issued a European arrest warrant against him.

He’s not the only rapper from which the Spanish state suffers; Catalan Pablo Hassel has also been jailed for his anti-monarchy words and tweets. In February, mass protests erupted across Spain to demand the release of the pro-Republican Hassell.
