The Spanish public prosecutor has requested an eight-year prison sentence for Shakira in a tax fraud case worth 14.5 million euros, Reuters reported, citing a prosecutor’s document published on Friday.
The move came after the world-renowned Colombian singer rejected a plea deal from prosecutors earlier this week.
Shakira is accused of not paying taxes between 2012 and 2014, but the singer defends herself by saying that she did not live in Spain during that time.
