There will be a coronavirus next year. Now it feels like the Winter Olympics too.

Is there a return to “normality” due to vaccinations? Absolutely: What is the “new” normal? we travel? Are we on vacation? Polynic? Are we going to the theater and concert? How threatening are the various mutations in the virus? Should we be afraid of the fourth or fifth wave, or several waves? In our article series, you will find everything you need to know about the coronavirus pandemic.

The Organizing Committee has informed the Executive Committee of the International Olympic and Paralympic Committee that tickets for the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games in Beijing will be sold only to those living in mainland China. Those who have not been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus will face 21 days of quarantine upon arrival in Beijing.

The International Olympic Committee said in a statement on Wednesday that it fully respects the organizers’ rulings on the coronavirus pandemic, which are based on extensive consultations with international experts and Chinese authorities, as well as the experience of Olympic and Paralympic actors.

The first version of the Covid rules adopted by the organizing committee will be published in late October and the second version in December.

All fully vaccinated approved persons will be placed in a “bubble” upon arrival in Beijing, a closed system that covers all Olympic areas, including accommodation, travel, competition venues, training, meals, and the opening and closing ceremonies. In the closed tour, participants can only move between the places of training, competitions and work. A separate transportation and travel system will be introduced for the five-episode games.

Unvaccinated people will be placed in quarantine for 21 days upon arrival. The status of those who can provide a justified medical exemption will be judged separately. All vaccines officially approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) or the countries concerned are accepted by Chinese regulators.

The closed bubble will be created on January 23 and will run until the end of the Paralympic Games, March 13.

Tickets are sold exclusively to residents of mainland China, and fans must also comply with Covid rules. The organizers indicated that ticket purchase details are under discussion and will be announced in due course after completion.

Relatives of approved persons are not provided with the so-called official guest category.

Because of the bubble system, travelers to Beijing will stay in hotels contracted with the organizers, these accommodations comply with the five-ring Covid rules. All participants are tested daily for the coronavirus.

Next year’s Beijing Winter Olympics will be held from February 4-20, while the Paralympic Winter Games will be held March 4-13.
