Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: Cal Kestis is completely “human”.

And the actor who played Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: Cameron Monaghan wants Cal to team up with Yaddle.

Last night at The Game Awards, we got the first real gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, as well as a March 17, 2023 release date. Besides, we got a decent long look at Jedi hero Cal Kestis, a young man who’s undergone massive changes since The end of Fallen Order.

First, he got a new look – Cal ditched the trench coat he wore in Fallen Order and now sports a more adventurous, almost Han Solo look. He has grown some facial hair, his lightsabers are evolving, and he is becoming stronger and more resourceful.

But changes do not appear only from the outside. Prior to the film’s release, IGN spoke with Cal actor Cameron Monaghan about how the five years between Fallen Order and Survivor affected his character. And while he’s still very much like the Kestis we knew at the time, the Jedi’s attitude and precarious attitude in his attempts to save the Order is starting to wear off.

Cale’s worldview is starting to change as well. Monaghan said. Desperate times called for desperate measures, and it became very difficult for him to even understand what he was fighting for or where he should go.

“The Empire is expanding rapidly, with great force for the time, reaching even the smallest and most remote parts of the galaxy. And I think from his point of view, it could be very lonely to go from planet to planet and watch the increasingly desperate situation. I can imagine it could certainly be stressful for someone.” “.

Although Monaghan denied that any visual resemblance between Cale and Han Solo would go beyond the clothing (Harrison Ford Nobody but Harrison Ford he said), adding that the two share some unintended similarities.

“[Cal] More mature, more robust and able to adapt to time and situations. Monaghan said. “He’s still very young. But I actually think she’ll look a little older than she really is because she’s been through so much. And that’s what I wanted to reflect in the performance, to show that he’s still a young soul, but also has a look beyond his years. And there’s wisdom and self-awareness.” In it, which I think is interesting, but sometimes you have to be a little bit evil to succeed in this world. You have to be very sensitive and know when and how to fight back.”

Given the galactic situation and the fact that audiences already knew how it would play out before A New Hope, we asked Monaghan if there was any hope for a personal happy ending for Cal.

It depends on what you define as a happy ending, right?” to reply. “If you achieve meaningful change, if you can achieve the things you set out to do, I think it is satisfying or beneficial in some way.

“One of the interesting things we do exploring Jedi is what it means to be on the good side of the Force. Especially when you find yourself in increasingly difficult, desperate situations, and you don’t necessarily have the right answer.”

As bleak as all this is for Cal, the Cal Kestis we know can be light-hearted. Especially near his friend BD-1. BD-1 is still with Cal on Survivor, though other crewmates like Cere have left on their own. And Monaghan enjoys the robot, too.

Yadel and Cal, forever exploring the universe together.

“We have an amazing actor, Gideon Emery, who is on set, and we have 3D [életnagyságú] Our print edition of BD. [Emerynek] He has sniff any whistle his nose wears on his face. It’s like a little piece of plastic…and so he makes expressive sounds to mimic, move and carry BD and his puppeteer, so to speak.

“Gideon was there from the beginning. We had a shoot where there was no BD, and I simply said, ‘There’s a character missing from the scenes. ‘ And that’s why I was so grateful when we got Gideon in, because it really gives off an amazing dynamic and energy.”

While Cal and BD-1 remain a dream team, there’s another character Monaghan said would make a dream team for Cal, and an unusual one at that: Yaddle, the Jedi Master.

“Yadel and Cal, we explore the universe together,” Monaghan said sadly, then added with a laugh. “No, I don’t know. I think we’ll be meeting a couple of people… Between the first game and this one, I can’t say for sure, except there are some really cool things going on. And I was really excited about what we were going to do.”
