It first appeared at Gamescom last spring. Starship Troopers: Annihilation Also available. The game has been available in early access for over a year and has been generally well received. The developers have now released a new trailer that hints at the fact that the full version of the game for PC and consoles will be released in a few months.
Now a development video of sorts has arrived for the FPS, mostly geared towards the multiplayer mode, where the creators introduce two important novelties. One of them is the tank bug, the monster we saw in the original movie. It's the one that can throw lava at people, and Rico destroyed it with a grenade in the movie.
Another novelty is a new planet, Frozen Boreas, where insects also set foot. Moreover, they have mutated due to the climate change, so players can encounter the Frost Drone and Frost Warrior here.
The video also talks about the game's single-player campaign, codenamed Special Operations Group (SOG). In it, we'll take orders from the great General Johnny Rico himself, voiced by Casper Van Dien. As soldiers in a special unit, players will take part in a series of covert operations, which are not-so-secretly intended to prepare them for the challenges of the 16-person multiplayer mode.
Starship Troopers: Externation will release its early access version on October 11, where it will be released on PC in addition to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
