Police have arrested thirty protest activists in central London on Lambeth Bridge for obstructing road traffic, MTI writes.
Protesters marched on the bridge over Britain’s tallest climate advocate. Several members of an unofficial organization called Insulate Britain were sentenced to several months in prison this week. They received this severe punishment because they cut off traffic on several major roads in the country several times. On one occasion, the M25 motorway was closed.
The Sabbath protesters chose the same form to defend their peers. At the same time, the government has been asked to fund a large-scale program to improve the energy efficiency of the UK housing stock. This topic is one of Insulate Britain’s main focus.
Activists say homes in the UK are among the oldest and coldest in Europe. Insulate Britain also claims that up to ten thousand older people die each year in the UK in winter and late autumn, who are forced to save from home heating, putting their health at risk.
