Sword-winged dolphins have been spotted in southwest England

Two sword-winged dolphins, members of the UK’s only resident orca family, have been spotted off the southwest coast of England. Experts said it was the first time they had appeared so much in the south.

The dolphins, named John Coe and Aquarius, were spotted by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust conservation staff near the Minack Coastal Theater in Porthcornu. The two animals are part of a team of eight called the West Coast Society, which consists of four females and four males and lives in the Scottish Hebrides.

Although monitored regularly, Some members of the dolphin family have not been seen in recent years, and no calves have been spotted since he began handling them in the 1990s.

The body requires more protection for animals threatened by poaching, fishing nets and the use of toxic chemicals.
