SZTE is no longer the best Hungarian university in the QS international rankings

Compared to last year, Eötvös Loránd University improved by more than 130 places and became the 564th best university in the world in the latest international university rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds, reports Eidolin. And so ELTE became it The best university on that liston the basis of which SZTE declares itself as the best Hungarian university, including Oriasmolino University.

11 Hungarian universities made it to the last list, and among them, in addition to ELTE, it jumped more than 30 places from 601-610 last year. The University of Szeged, which is in second place – and therefore considered the best in the 2024 list – and the University of Debrecen also improved by about 100 places, i.e. 671-680, last year. It improved its position in the 2025 rankings to 574th place. Thus, three local institutions compete in the struggle for first place:

  • Eötvos Lorand University (ranked 564)
  • University of Szeged (570th place)
  • University of Debrecen (574th place)
  • Budapest University of Technology and Economics (ranked 721-730)
  • University of Pécs (location 771-780)
  • Corvinus University of Budapest (1001-1200)
  • Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (position 1001-1200)
  • István Széchenyi University (place 1001–1200)
  • Šbuda University (place 1201–1400)
  • University of Miskolc (position 1201-1400)
  • University of Pannonia (1201–1400 places)

According to Eduline's summary, BME and PTE also rose to the top of the list, with the first being 741-750 last year. Its place was modified by 721-730. domain, while the latter is 801-850. The range has been improved to 771-780.

QS ranks the top 1,500 universities in the world and their placement in the list is influenced by aspects such as academic recognition, respect from employers, citations to scholarly works, lecturer-student ratio, proportion of foreign students and the International Research Network Index. Measuring graduate employability or sustainability outcomes.
