The physical version of the new Zelda game has surpassed Hogwarts Legacy’s best-selling game to date, and it could easily be the best-selling game of the year.
The game was only released on Friday, but The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been the subject of international press all weekend, either because of the hundreds of meters long queues, or the 94-minute speed, or because of that. It was called the best game of all time.
In addition to subjective opinions, the sales figure, which is measured in the UK in terms of sales of boxed copies, is data that can also be evaluated objectively. With that in mind, Kingdom Tears The eighth best selling Zelda game of all time, and outpaced the multi-platform Hogwarts Legacy in one weekend, selling 53 percent more than The Wizard’s Game, which was also a critical and sales success. That feature is expected to change, as the game was only released a few days ago, though a Switch port of Hogwarts Legacy is also expected in the fall. At the same time, Nintendo itself sees a slowdown in console sales and has no plans to release a new console this year, despite the game’s success.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on May 12th exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
