In addition to the fact that photos taken using AI-based image generators are becoming more popular, it seems that they can actually be listed in prominent places on the Internet. This was further proven by the fact that even on the search page for an iconic historical moment, a completely fake image appeared prominently in Google. Falsifying history at its finest.
He found something strange 404 media On Google: When you enter the term “Tank Man” into the search engine, you don’t see the avatar from 1989 in the first place, which shows a young man protesting the massacre in Tiananmen Square standing in front of a tank column, but the image is captured by artificial intelligence . So the photo was not actually taken.
The image, which has since been removed from Google search results, shows a young man taking a selfie in front of tanks. The photo shows what the defining moment of the Chinese communist regime looked like from the protesters’ perspective. But it didn’t really look like that, as this photo was not taken in 1989, but in 2023.
The case of the AI-generated image highlights the problems with these image-generating devices as well as the Internet: it is very easy to generate text, video and audio files using AI; With a little exaggeration, all it takes is just the push of a button, and you’ll get a recording that’s so shockingly authentic, it’s hard to tell it’s not real.

Since this generated content can flood platforms used for information in seconds, and there is no proper way to distinguish it from real human content, misinformation can easily spread this way.
