Emirates makes bags and other travel essentials from recycled materials on the company’s converted aircraft.

The limited-edition Aircrafted by Emirates collection includes suitcases, backpacks, handbags, briefcases, toiletry bags, belts and shoes, all designed and handcrafted by Emirates’ tailors at the airline’s headquarters in Dubai. The materials used in the collection come from the interiors of the wide-body Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft, and from parts that are replaced during the ongoing refurbishment programme.

More than 14,000 kilograms of material was recycled from 16 converted aircraft. During the refurbishment of the machine, approximately 270 kg of leather and 627 kg of seat fabric can be recovered.

Materials such as aluminum headrests, leather from the A380 lounge sofas, 95 percent wool seat fabric, seat belts and captain’s seat fur are recycled. Accessories can be made from reused materials after deep cleaning, disinfection and, if necessary, surface treatment.

According to plans, the collection will go on sale in 2024, and all proceeds will go to children in need.
