Magyar Telekom – according to its financial report for the first semester – Over 1.4 million TV subscribers Nationwide, an increase of 2.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Based on data from the end of June, only 4.2% watch satellite TV and their number is decreasing.
In accordance with the digital progress and business decision of the company, Magyar Telekom will end satellite television broadcasting on January 28, 2025. This move is part of a process aimed at simplifying the company's television services.
Magyar Telekom will start informing affected customers by mail from the beginning of November, and from December within the satellite TV service, it will draw attention to the change on a separate screen. As a result of the continuous development of the network, the company offers the Telekom TV service, which provides digital technology to some of those who currently use satellite TV services (depending on the bandwidth available at the place of use and the possibility of installation). If a fixed network is not available, Telekom TV GO can provide the solution via the mobile network. Although usage options may differ from those usual for satellite TV services, interested parties can sign a contract for the smallest public service package (M1, M2, Duna, M4 Sport, M4 Sport+, Duna World, M5) free of charge.
The telecom company adds that It is expected that it will not be able to provide communications services to all subscribers who currently use satellite channel services.
