From the Tuesday afternoon newsletter of the AlphaTauri Formula 1 team, it can be seen that the team has thanked Dutch rookie Nyck de Vries, who was signed at the start of the season, for his participation, and Daniel Ricciardo, who left without a driver’s seat at the end of last season, will take his place.

As is known, Daniel Ricciardo had been left without a Formula 1 seat at the end of the previous year, because McLaren had signed Oscar Piastri to replace him. The dismissed Australian then got a chance at his former employer, Red Bull, where he fulfilled the duties of number three contender. The past tense is correct, AlphaTauri reported in its Tuesday afternoon newsletter that the 8-time Australian race winner could indeed take De Vries’ place at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Ricciardo was loaned out by AlphaTauri from the parent team.
Daniel Ricciardo is coming on loan from Red Bull for the rest of the season and already at the Hungarian Grand Prix he will replace Nyck de Vries. AlphaTauri Books.
“I am very happy to be back on the track as part of the Red Bull family.” – The newsletter quoted the 34-year-old Australian, who has participated in 232 Formula 1 races so far, won eight times and managed to stand on the podium 32 times.
AlphaTauri announced Ricciardo’s return after the Australian driver tested Red Bull’s race car of the year at Silverstone on Tuesday.
Nyck de Vries made his Formula 1 debut for Williams last year – in place of Alex Albon, who is suffering from appendicitis – and finished ninth at the Italian Grand Prix, scoring two points. As it turned out later, this was his only F1 record. The Dutchman, who joined AlphaTauri this year, could not finish in the top ten in any of the ten races organized so far, and besides, he lost to his teammate, Juki Cunoda, in all but two races.
