There's some worrying news about Netflix's self-produced series based on Horizon Zero Dawn, which has reportedly already been filmed.

But not because Netflix doesn’t want it. The series’ director, Steve Blackman — who could be linked to The Umbrella Academy and Altered Carbon — is said to be so irresponsible with the crew that they’ve abandoned all of his upcoming projects. One would have been a brand-new Netflix series called Orbital, and the other would have been an adaptation of the PlayStation game in question.

For now (and of course) Blackman denies the accusations against him — which include everything from harassment to sexism to creating a toxic work environment that’s hard to tolerate — but according to the show’s director, there are only a few disgruntled employees trying to disrupt him. Since accusations of this sort are fairly common in America, the community’s judges will also have to wait for the case to play out, if there’s anything to be gained from this other than the fact that Netflix (like many other big companies) is probably trying to deal with the issue. In what is currently a PR disaster, he’s firing his prolific (but by no means outstanding) creator over accusations that can only be called a simple announcement.
If this happens, Orbital will be shot dead, while Horizon can be saved by Blackman's departure if they want to do something with him, or if they find a new showrunner to lead him in time. Either way, this unfortunate incident doesn't do much good for the Horizon series, which, even if it does come to pass, is more likely to be a middling six-line underdog than a premium adaptation like Amazon's Fallout or HBO's The Last of Us. Anyway, we've been on Netflix for a long time…
