The 48-hour programming competition will be held again this year

The largest hybrid programming competition in Hungary awaits applicants with prize money totaling several thousand euros.

The 5th JunctionX Budapest programming competition, which will be held between 24 and 26 November, does not require a master’s level of technical knowledge. Prior to the event, applicants will be treated to a special training day at the Omixon office on November 10, which will focus not only on technical preparation, but also on team building and assists. The offline venue for the competition, which is conducted online and simultaneously, is the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts.

The course of the competition has not changed this year either: two days before the competition, teams of 2-5 people can get acquainted with the challenges offered by the companies, which will be presented in detail by the partners after the opening. Contestants then have 48 hours to create and upload a two-minute video convincingly presenting the solutions and corresponding source code. Challenge winners are selected by corporate partners through an independent evaluation. Each winning team will receive a prize of €1,500. Participating teams also play an active role in determining the absolute winner: by evaluating each other’s work, they select 8 finalists, who then get the opportunity to present their ideas in person. Corporate partners and teams then vote to choose the winning team that can take home a cash prize of €3,000.

A record number of 722 participants from nearly 70 countries were registered for last year’s hackathon, which has already been surpassed by the number of applicants this year. The contestants proposed solutions to filter out users who come to the site with dishonest intentions, but an application was also created to help travelers abroad and those ready to settle, which can be used to compare the level of prices in different countries and, before moving, to evaluate the quality of life that the expatriate will be able to maintain in the new country. More reliably.
