The series made from Bethesda Game Studios' IP is already preparing for its second season on Amazon, and the success has also affected games, so there was extra money for Microsoft's Bethesda house.
The Witcher series on Netflix also achieved a significant increase in demand for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In the case of Fallout, we can also see that Fallout 4, expanded with the next-gen update (which postponed the release of the Fallout: London mod), Fallout 76, and even Fallout: New Vegas could enjoy more sales. VG Insights tried to calculate how much income this would generate.
According to their estimates, Fallout 4 has amassed approximately 2 million sales. It grossed $22 million (about 8 billion Hungarian forints), roughly 1.5 million sales from Fallout 76. It raised $16 million (nearly 6 billion forints), and its spending (small transactions) exceeded 12 million (4.5 billion forints). To this can be added the $30 million (nearly 11 billion Hungarian forints) that Bethesda received from Amazon alone for licensing the intellectual property. So the amount is approx. $80 million (nearly 29 billion Hungarian forints), which also fell into Bethesda's lap. And this doesn't even include Fallout Shelter, the mobile game, which, according to VG Insights, could still net the company between $5-10 million (2-4 billion forints). In fact, it's possible that it will continue, because Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas were not included in the analyses, while the latter frequently appeared in the UK Top 10 and was also a bestseller on Steam.
Thus, Bethesda was able to raise up to $100 million (about 36-37 billion Hungarian forints), which is not a lot, but since Fallout 76 was released almost six years ago, this was money in the house for the publisher, which in Basically you didn't need anything for this to be done. Therefore, it is not surprising that there is great potential in media transfer IPs.
