Raphael Lacoste has been at Ubisoft for 16 years, being its Technical Director for about 10 years. Lacoste worked on the 2007 original Assassins Creed, Revelations, and Black Flag game, among others. Among the members of the New School, he was an integral part of the visual works of Origins and Valhalla.
Lacoste announced on Twitter that he is leaving Ubisoft after eight adaptation units and that he wants to take on new adventures and challenges. The artist thanked Ubisoft for the opportunity and confidence in touching posts and also said that the French-Canadian company had been his home for 16 years.
Good morning all,
It is not without emotion to tell you that after 8 murders, and 16 years at Ubisoft, I have decided to embark on new adventures and challenges. 1/3 pic.twitter.com/ZynG1pXoK9

Although Lacoste hasn’t justified his departure, his announcement coincides with Ubisoft’s recent rethinking of the future of the Assassins Creed series. Valhalla will be expanded for another year, after which it will arrive in Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which will be a service-based platform for future AC games. It is not inconceivable that the strategic shift and the departure of Lacoste are linked.
Ubisoft held its first fiscal quarter investor meeting this week, where Infinity’s Frederic Dugate said the project will remain true to the legacy of the franchise’s rich narrative experiences. It was also revealed at the same meeting that we shouldn’t wait any longer for Beyond Good & Evil to continue. A report found that the Pirate Skull and Bones is still in production, although the conditions for its development are pretty infernal.
The project, codenamed Assassins Creed Infinity, is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal Studios and Ubisoft Quebec of Canada. The people of Montreal brought Origins and Valhalla together, while fellow Quebecers made an Odyssey.
Ubisoft put a lot of effort into making multiplayer games only. Division Heartland and XDefiant are in development (although there doesn’t seem to be much difference between them), but in good shape, sometime in January, the PvE Rainbow Six Extraction co-op shooter may also arrive. In addition, Watch Dogs Legion has recently received Aiden Pearce DLC-tWhich was well received by the profession and the players.
